What Are We Wearing In 2025?

A new year brings a new start and a new wardrobe refresh. For many of us, 2025 stretches ahead as a giant unknown – but for fashion designers and trend forecasters, it’s already mapped out! If you’re like me and literally have whiplash from how fast we’ve gone from Brat summer in 2024 to the first week of 2025 — fear not as I’m here to slowly ease you back into a new year of fashion and what to wear.
Along with the hardcore fashion predictors out there, there is no denying that TikTok is behind and the driving force of some of the biggest trends we have seen and we will see this year. Remember mob wife, clean girl aesthetic and office siren? You can thank TikTok for all of that!
One notable insight for 2025 though is that maximalism is back – no matter which aesthetic you align with. Quiet luxury is being ditched for rich colours, loud statement accessories and a sense of fun.
Leopard print isn’t going anywhere which is music to my ears seeing as I bought a good few bits for AW24.
So, without further ado and getting right into it – this is what you will soon see popping up in your favourite retailers and on your social media feeds very soon. My top picks of the SS25 trends are also linked below (*affiliate links).
- Cherry Girl
Move over Strawberry Girl! There’s a new fruit-inspired aesthetic in town for 2025. Though the strawberry girl aesthetic was mostly beauty-driven, the cherry girl look will be the best of both worlds, with the colour taking over our closets and our glam GRWM routines. Think deep, rich red, just like in-season (expensive!) cherries in the supermarket.
- Animal Print Everything
As mentioned above, leopard print isn’t going anywhere thankfully! Even though that seems to be the feline-print of choice, cow print, snakeskin and tiger stripes will all feature. You can wear animal print anywhere and everywhere. Use it as an accent piece with a bag or pair of shoes or let it be the focal point of your outfit. Either way, your wild side will be shining through in 2025!
- Denim on Denim on Denim
Denim is a cornerstone of basically every wardrobe! Why not experiment more with your style of jeans. Wide-leg, barrel-leg and baggy jeans will continue to be popular. Word of warning though, skinny jeans are making a slow-return – and I don’t know if I will ever be ready for that! If denim skirts are your thing, try a midi or full-length maxi. Plus…denim on denim never gets old or never dates!
- Sporty Spice
Old-school sports styles like tracksuits and windbreakers as well as US college-style American football varsity jackets are back and very much in. This trend is set to explode in 2025, the roots emerging from the return of preppy fashion and varsity jackets. I’ve been a fan of this trend for a while now and love how the Adidas Firebird track pants are now a fashion staple in the cool girlies wardrobe. They’re so easy to wear and style and above all – so comfortable to wear.
- Bag Charms
Bag charms have been trickling into the accessory-sphere for the past while and set to continue their popularity because of the current interest in personal expression and exclusivity. I myself hopped onto the trend a couple of months ago and purchased the Coach cherry bag charm dupe which can be widely found online (linked below) to attach to my burgundy Longchamp mini Le Pilage pouch.
- Suede
Suede has been named by AI forecaster Heuritech as its top fabric to watch for 2025. Suede was big news for AW24 and SS25 will also see it align perfectly with boho chic which always seems to in trend for the summer months in some way. Pair it with chiffon, lace and relaxed silhouettes for a fresh 2025 take.
- Yellow
This one in particular makes me very happy! Nothing says Spring more than yellow – in all shades. Buttery, creamy, vanilla shades of yellow as well as lemon will grace our stores and online so be prepared to radiate with that sunshine colour!
- Hot pants as the new mini skirt
Ok I’m leaving this one to the Gen Z’s thank you very much. I’d love to say this is a trend I will be embracing but sadly not, I am officially too old to prance around in hot pants and I do not mind saying that at all.
- Thong Sandals
Flip flops (think Havaiana’s) paired with jeans or voluminous cotton skirts have long been a signature look among the style-savvy in Copenhagen, and this laid-back aesthetic will gain even more traction across the rest of Europe in 2025. I rekindled my love for the basic black Havaiana towards the end of last summer and there’s a lot to be said about the simplicity, practicality and the fact they just go with EVERYTHING along with being super cool!
- Asymmetry and Strapless Dresses
One-shoulder tops, one-leg pants and flowy skirts are all fantastic examples of how asymmetry can elevate fashion pieces to new heights, making outfits feel both fresh and contemporary. I love love a one-shoulder top/dress (my wedding dress was one-shoulder) so I’m soooo onboard with all the asymmetry styles. Equally strapless dresses are said to have a bigger impact this SS25 blending minimalist charm with bold new textures.
