How To Look Stylish While Traveling
When it comes to dressing for traveling – comfort is key. That’s your utmost priority. But…it doesn’t mean that style goes out the window! You can be cosy and comfortable as well as stylish. Layering is important as well as practical. Many of us will be planning for upcoming summer holiday trips. Whilst thinking about what you need to pack, it’s always worth taking into consideration your travel outfit (both ways) and how you incorporate an outfit that is comfortable for hours on a plane or airport but also looks ‘put together’. Check out my Instagram reel with the looks.
Here are my top tips for stylishly dressing while you travel, be it an airport, train station, bus station or ferry port.
- When planning your travel wardrobe, prioritise pieces that can be mixed and matched to create a multitude of outfits.
- Choose wrinkle-resistant fabrics if possible that are comfortable, breatheable and durable.
- Many people like to travel in jeans – I personally don’t. If you are a jeans wearer when traveling – make sure they have a good stretch in them and not too restrictive. A soft denim is ideal here.
- Leggings, tracksuit pants or soft flowy trousers are your best friends when it comes to traveling.
- Stick to neutral tones especially with tops and layering options. They go with everything, are less complicated when you want your outfit to look chic and matching with your bottoms.
- Layering is key. It not only adds dimension to your outfit but helps you adapt quite easily to changing temperatures on your journey – be it in the aircraft with the a/c or when you land at your destination. Lightweight jackets, cardigans, hoodies/sweaters or wraps are great layering options.
- Comfortable footwear is a MUST. A pair of stylish runners or flats will keep your feet happy when traveling for hours. Remember feet usually swell on airplanes – so take that into account also. Ensure your socks are cotton, breathable and comfy to wear. Something I like to do whilst flying – is take my own pair of slippers which I carry in my hand-luggage and wear them during the flight.
- Looking stylish while traveling should also go beyond your clothing choices. Don’t forget your skincare and beauty options. Keep your makeup light, I like to wear a tinted moisturiser with SPF whilst traveling – and go for more of a natural look. Keep a hydrating mist on you to keep your skin fresh as well as a travel-friendly size body spray or perfume.
- Underwear – don’t forget to ensure its comfortable, breathable and above all – not restrictive. There’s nothing worse than bra straps digging into your skin for hours on end.
- Invest in quality luggage – this also determines your overall style whilst traveling.
